"Alla Madonna del Piatto" is a small agriturismo - a farmhouse inn - spectacularly located in the hills surrounding Assisi.
This beautiful rural area is blanketed with hardwood forests, Mediterranean vegetation and olive groves.
Countless wild animals make their home here, including wild boar, pheasants, hares and many birds… all the creatures
befriended by St. Francis when he walked this verdant paradise at the turn of the XIII century.
The centuries old farmhouse
faces the sunny south and has a stunning view of Assisi's world famous basilica, dedicated to St. Francis and housing
Italy's most important medieval art treasures.
Umbria's beautiful medieval hill towns like Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Orvieto, Spoleto and Perugia are all within easy
reach from "Alla Madonna del Piatto", as is Tuscany's splendid Renaissance city Siena and the Chianti wine region.
Its geographic location also allows for excursions to Urbino, Florence and Rome.
The current owners of "Alla Madonna del Piatto" have recently restored the building with a high regard for
traditional building materials and local craftsmanship, while making the necessary adjustments to meet modern
standards of comfort.
The guestrooms are all equipped with private bath and the heating system is concealed under beautiful terracotta floors.
"Alla Madonna del Piatto" has six double rooms, each with its own character.
Every room is tastefully furnished
with a mix of genuinely old and more modern (often hand-made) items.
The two rooms on the ground floor are in the
oldest part of the farm, and feature impressive stone walls and beamed ceilings.
The four first-floor rooms offer
a stunning view of the basilica and Assisi's ancient fortifications.
The sun-exposed position of the farm, its excellent
heating system and double glass windows mean comfortable holidays for guests seeking the tranquillity of the off-season.
Breakfast and dinner (exclusively for guests) are served in a cozy dining room with open fireplace for additional
atmosphere. This room, like the rest of the building, is a non-smoking area.
The delicious homemade food is prepared with only the freshest local ingredients , many produced by "Alla Madonna
del Piatto" itself.
